The private Amex Platinum costs €60 per month (€720 per year) and earns 1 Membership Rewards point per eligible €1. It is a high-fee travel-benefit package, not a shortcut to cheap flights. The decision turns on benefits you already use repeatedly.

Credits are not cash
Amex advertises up to €650 per year across online travel, participating restaurants, SIXT ride and LODENFREY. Registration, booking channel, participating merchants, timing and main-card payment rules apply. Some credits are divided into several vouchers and unused amounts expire.
Calculate a personal value for each credit. If you would not have made the purchase without the card, it does not reduce the fee in your break-even calculation.
