Miles & More Blue Card Private
The Blue Card costs €5.50 per month (€66 per year). Its main job is simple: earn miles on ordinary spending and keep an existing Miles & More balance from expiring while the card remains active. A temporary welcome package is a separate decision.
Quick choice: Blue and Gold earn at the same base rate and both protect eligible Miles & More balances. Choose Blue when the lower €66 fee is enough; compare Gold Private only when you would genuinely use its insurance and travel package.

The regular terms at a glance
| Item | Regular term |
|---|---|
| Card fee | €5.50 per month (€66 per year) |
| Base earning | 1 award mile per €2 of eligible card spend |
| Mileage protection | Miles remain valid while an eligible Blue or Gold card is active |
| Card network | Mastercard, with Apple Pay and Google Pay support |
| Foreign-currency cost | 1.95% issuer fee; ATM-operator charges can still apply |
| Repayment | The application, price list and card conditions control; the product page does not establish a repayment period |
| Wolt+ free period | 6 months after registering on Wolt’s partner website with your Miles & More login |
| Wolt+ renewal | €4.99 per month automatically unless cancelled with Wolt before the free period ends; cancelling the card does not cancel Wolt+ |
The issuer can change or end enrolment in Wolt+; an already granted free period runs to its agreed end.
The €66 annual fee is the baseline to beat. Do not treat the miles earned on the fee itself as free value, and do not count miles you would not otherwise use.
What Blue is good for
- Protecting a Miles & More balance: the issuer’s protection applies while the card is active; it is not a lifetime promise after cancellation.
- Low-cost Mastercard acceptance: use it where American Express is not accepted and keep the earning system in one Miles & More account.
- Simple private spending: the 1-mile-per-€2 rate is easy to model against the €66 annual fee.
The expiry-protection detail people miss
Miles collected before and during card ownership are protected from the normal 36-month expiry while an eligible Blue or Gold card is active. After cancellation, the ordinary Miles & More expiry rules apply again, with the issuer’s stated grace period. If the card exists only to protect a balance, record the cancellation date and the balance you need to use before cancelling.
Blue has no premium insurance package. If you would buy travel cover anyway, compare the €66 Blue fee with the cost of that cover; do not upgrade to Gold just for a larger temporary bonus.
When Blue is the better choice
Choose Blue when you need mileage protection, broad Mastercard acceptance or a low-cost way to keep earning miles, and the Gold insurance package would otherwise go unused. It is also the cleaner comparison for someone who already has travel insurance through another card or policy.
When another card is safer
- You need trip-cancellation, rental-car or travel-health cover with documented limits: compare Gold Private and its insurance conditions.
- You are self-employed and the spending is genuinely business-related: compare Blue Business instead of mixing personal and business expenses.
- You only want to test Miles & More and do not need expiry protection: include the no-fee MyFlex option in the all-card comparison, while checking its repayment risk.
- You are considering the card only for the bonus: the minimum term, new-customer rule and early- cancellation clawback are listed in the offer table above.
Offer and regular terms
The regular card terms above remain valid after the campaign ends. The issuer’s complete price, application and card conditions also apply to any application.
