Membership Rewards Turbo programme
Turbo is an optional paid add-on to American Express Membership Rewards in Germany. It can increase the rate at which you earn points on eligible card spending, but its value depends on your normal spending and on the terms that apply to your account.
Turbo at a glance
1.5 Membership Rewards points per eligible €1, instead of the standard 1 point per €1.
The enhanced rate applies to the first €40,000 of eligible annual spending.
At the cap, the difference is 20,000 additional Membership Rewards points in a year.
Eligible spending above €40,000 earns at the standard rate.
The listed fee is €15 per year.
Before you enrol
Use only normal planned spending
Do not spend more, move purchases forward or pay a surcharge merely to earn extra points. The relevant comparison is the value of the additional points from purchases you would have made anyway, minus the €15 fee.
Check the current terms in your account
The fee, eligibility, qualifying transactions, annual cap and cancellation rules are product terms that can change. Confirm each of them in your American Express account or with American Express before enrolling.
Keep the points flexible until a booking is available
Turbo changes how quickly Membership Rewards points accumulate; it does not make an irreversible transfer safer. Check availability, transfer ratio, timing and destination-program rules before moving points.
How to enrol
American Express currently describes enrolment through customer service or in the logged-in account. Use the current instructions shown for your card rather than relying on an old screenshot or a third-party walkthrough.
The maximum additional points are not a reason to manufacture €40,000 of card spend. If your normal eligible spending is lower, calculate the value using that lower amount.
Need a Membership Rewards card before Turbo?
Choose a card for the regular Membership Rewards setup and its recurring cost first. Turbo can be considered only after that card is a good fit for your normal spending.
