Revolut RevPoints: A Second Earning Engine
Most German bank cards earn rewards you can’t turn into flights. Revolut is the exception — its RevPoints transfer 1:1 to real airline programs, making it a useful complement to your American Express and Miles & More setup.
Why it matters for Germany: Revolut has a large user base here, and RevPoints convert directly to Avios, Flying Blue, and several other airline currencies. If you already use Revolut for spending abroad (great FX rates), the points are a bonus on top.
How You Earn RevPoints
The earning rate depends on your plan. The free tiers are weak; the paid tiers are where it gets interesting:
| Plan | Earn Rate |
|---|---|
| Standard (free) | 1 point per €10 |
| Plus | 1 point per €10 |
| Premium | 1 point per €4 |
| Metal | 1 point per €2 |
| Ultra | 1 point per €1 |
Only Metal (1/€2) and Ultra (1/€1) earn at a rate worth chasing for miles. On the free plan the rate is too low to compete with an Amex Gold + Turbo (1.5 MR/€). Treat RevPoints as a supplement, not a replacement.
Where RevPoints Go (Transfer Partners)
RevPoints transfer 1:1 to airline programs. Partners available to German (DE) accounts include:
- Flying Blue (Air France / KLM)
- British Airways Executive Club (Avios)
- Iberia Plus (Avios)
- Qatar Airways Privilege Club (Avios)
- Finnair Plus
- Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles
- TAP Air Portugal Miles&Go
- Aer Lingus AerClub, Vueling Club
No Miles & More: As with American Express, you cannot transfer RevPoints to Lufthansa Miles & More. Revolut’s strength is the Avios family (BA / Iberia / Qatar) and Flying Blue — the same programs that give the best value from Amex MR.
How It Fits the Strategy
- Use Revolut for non-Eurozone spending for the strong FX rate, and pocket RevPoints on top.
- Funnel RevPoints into Avios or Flying Blue, then redeem on short-haul Europe or sweet-spot long-haul awards.
- If you hold Metal or Ultra, the points can meaningfully add to your Amex MR balance toward the same airline partners.
Watch the maths: A paid Revolut plan only pays for itself in points if your spend is high enough. Compare the plan fee against what you’d earn versus simply putting that spend on an Amex Gold with Turbo.
